Am I Back Yet?

  #
As some of you know, I've had trouble logging on and posting, both from the Mac G3 at work and my Windows 98 PC at home. I am sitting at a friends computer right now, writing this test weblog entry to see if the problem lies within my profile or if it is some maddening coincidence of these two very different computers that has kept me from spouting my rhetoric. If anyone has any ideas what may be up, please advise -- I miss being able to take a more active part in OCC. While I'm at it, I just had a piece accepted into the 32nd Michigan Annual juried art competition at the Mt. Clemens Art Center (125 Macomb Place, Mt. Clemens). If you are in the Detroit area this weekend, stop by for the opening on Sunday, February 15, from 1-3 p.m. Hope y'all have a happy Valentine's Day!

It would seem that the problem is with the machines. I can't start any weblog threads with the MAC at work, but can post responses. On my PC, I can't even log on. If anyone has any savvy suggestions or hardware modifications that don't involve an 8-lb. sledge hammer, I'm about at my wit's end.2/12/2004 7:04:48 PM

I erroneously reported that the Mac at work is a G3. It is in fact an IMac.2/14/2004 1:15:31 PM

I use both constantly. What browser are you using? I use (lately) Mozilla Firefox/Firebird, and if pushed, Internet Explorer.

Hope I can help -- I miss your posts.

Peter - it sounds like you may be caught between two bad computers (browsers actually) and a hard place.

You may want to try the browser that Louis recommended: Firefox - we've updated the editor a few months ago to work with it. However, at the very least you should be able to post using the plain text entry form even on the Mac at work with the funky browser. This one works anywhere...

Recommendations for any Windows computer: The same thing goes the Mac... keep the computer's software up to date, antivirus, and firewall. 2/16/2004 5:32:32 PM

Peter - you should be able to whack Internet Explorer (IE) upside the head with a Windows Update. However, I would encourage you to try Firefox, which is much more considerate to "challenged" computers.2/16/2004 5:59:57 PM

Brace yourselves...I am about to let loose a primal scream of unbridled celebration: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!! I'm back!! I'm back!!! F%$K Explorer!

Thanks to all of you who have patiently offered suggestions. I downloaded Firefox and so far am satisfied (ecstatic?) with the results.

Sweet. It's a happy little browser. I can only guess what it will be like by the time it reaches release.2/18/2004 5:48:44 PM

I've noticed that it's a little more "jerky" sometimes, but otherwise extremely satisfactory.2/20/2004 9:58:57 PM
