Jin-Yo Mok and Gicheol Lee's Music Box

  #
Music Box is an art project by Jin-Yo Mok who worked with Gicheol Lee.  The music box is a modern take on a physical music boxes, but controlled by a computer.

The computer selects which lights are to be activated when the wheel is turned by hand.

"Where normally pins would pluck the music box's tines, instead photosensors register if an LED is activated or not, causing the sound to play."

"Users can draw any shape on a computer screen using a mouse, and the same shape of LEDs will light up on the the cylinder of the music box. Users then turn the crank handle and listen to the music they composed by drawing."

Music Box is currently at the Whitney Artport.
