Artist Events in the Detroit area


Here is what is going on in my neck of the woods that I thought might be interesting to fellow OCC'ers in the greater Detroit area. We're interested in getting more events into Outside Circle Collective's community (especially people in the Lansing, MI US, Chicago, IL US, Manchester UK, areas.

The Art Guys
Feb 12th - The Art Guys are contemporary court jesters, and art is their chosen milieu in the tradition of Marcel Duchamp, Fluxus, and Andy Warhol. Food Jazz and Poetry
Feb 14th - Entertainment lined up for the evening includes some of Detroitís most creative and talented poets, & comdians with the smooth sounds of live Jazz music. Pewabic Pottery's First Hundred Years
Feb 18th - This lecture will be presented by Dr. Thomas Brunk. He has been referred to as "the Pewabic tile historian." His presentation will explore the pottery's history, its plans for the next century, and the unique relationship of Pewabic Pottery with the University of Michigan and Charles L. Art in the Barrio
-> Feb 28th - An exhibition of paintings by Larcenia Talley and John Simms examine the theme, exuberance and pleasure of being alive, aware and artists.  Both artists are members of the National Conference of Artists, Detroit Chapter.  Both also share a similar debt to their mothers as their early teachers, and after a career in another field have become professional artists. "The Joy of Being" is on display at the BHA Gallery in southwest Detroit. Exhibits at the BHA Gallery are sponsored and organized by The Hispanic Art and Education Center at Ste. CCS Art and Furniture Show
-> Mar 12 - The furnishings, designed by CCS student and alumni, will range from functional to sculptural. The show opens Saturday, January 31st, with a 7 p.m. reception. A spectacular multimedia presentation by CCS's Animation Department will also be a feature of the evening. The event is open to the public and runs through March 12th. [

Techno, Detroit's Gift to the World

definetly. this weekend peter and i discussed getting more group activities functioning, including some possible group shows. but these are the kind of events that interested parties should take adavantage of.
